Birthday Dinner at Kuya J Restaurant SM San Lazaro

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

According to their Facebook Page, "Kuya J Restaurant is a casual dining restaurant that offers great Filipino gastronomic delights using quality and unique tasting dishes in a homey dining experience."
Well in fairness, for us their description really fits them.
Kuya J Restaurant SM San Lazaro is on the 2nd Floor and open from 9am -9pm.

It was Uno's birthday that day (pamangkin ni Ching). His 7th Birthday  celebration was actually held already last Sunday on August 14 but his actual birthday is on the 16th that falls on a Tuesday.

Nagpareserve kami ng long table for 14 people. Eight kaming adults and 7 naman ang kids naming kasama. Very accomodating and magalang naman ang staff na nag-assist sa amin to our table. Buti at wala pa masyadong tao that time na pumunta kami since pa dinner na rin. Good thing at nabigyan kami agad ng table at nakaupo agad. Umorder na sila Bunso and Darius (Uno's Parents) ng mga food and the waiter told us na ang waiting time is approximately 15-20 minutes.

Okay, so ang mga inorder nila ay:
  • 2 Sets of Kuya J's Chicken (P245 pesos each)
  • 2 Crispy Pata Family Size(P695 pesos each)
  • 2 Kare-Kare Bagnet (P399  pesos each)
  • 2 orders of Pork BBQ (P150 pesos per order which is 3 pieces of BBQ)
  • 1 Sotanghon (P175 pesos)
  • 1 Pancit Canton (165 pesos)
  • 5 Garlic Rice (P140 pesos each)
  • 3 orders of Lumpiang Presko (P95 pesos each)

Naunang sinerve ang Lumpiang Presko then the Pancit Canton followed by the Pork BBQ, then sunod-sunod na ang  Garlic Rice which is 3 orders muna ang inorder then nagpadagdag pa ng 2 order so bale 5 orders of rice(each order is good for 2-3 person siguro),  next is yung Sotanghon, then the Chicken and lastly the Crispy Pata and the Kare-Kare Bagnet. Then alam nyo na siguro ang Fun Part, Kainan Na!

My Son JC mention that his favorite is actually the Garlic Rice. Seriously? Kasi masarap daw.
Kuya J's Lumpiang Presko P95 Pesos
Kuya J's Lumpiang Presko is basically a fresh lumpiang ubod cut into two and beautifully plated with a sweet brown sauce on a soup spoon and mince peanut on the side. Mukhang pwede naman atang magrequest ng another sauce kapag gusto mo pa or talaga lang sigurong mabait yung server namin that time. I asked the waiter kung pwede ba yun and he said that Yes ok lang daw.

Pancit Canton P165 Pesos

The Pancit Canton is also a delicious piece.  It  has different kinds of vegetables like carrots and cabbage which makes it look and taste very festive.

Pork BBQ P150 Pesos
Pork barbecue in bamboo skewers or sticks ay mabenta din sa mga kids dahil manamis namis ang lasa.
Kuya J's Chicken P245 Pesos
Kuya J's Chicken represents a very simple Pinoy way of crispy frying the chicken. Well seasoned and flavorful, good thing that its not too dry or else I would not like it.

Crispy Pata P695 Pesos
Ching's favorite was of course the Crispy Pata. Pero seriously, it is not a surprise why this is one of their Bestseller dish. You can eat it with or without the dipping sauce that comes along with it. What we love is the crunchiness and the juiciness of the meat.
What's my favorite dish? Of course the  Crispy Pata din and the Kare-Kare Bagnet! Kaya naman pala pinagmamalaki nila eh!

Kare-kare Bagnet P699 Pesos
The Kare-Kare is of course isa sa mga pagkain na love na love ng mga Pinoy especially kapag may special na okasyon. And hindi kami binigo ng Kare-Kare Bagnet of Kuya J Restaurant because aside from the wonderful presentation, the Bagnet was crunchy also on the skin and the meat is tender and not chewy kapag kinain. The sauce? Panalo! You can taste the nutty flavor and it is rich and creamy. Thumbs up for me!

Here is my son taking a selfie after he ate. He said, "Mommy masarap pala kumain dito sa Kuya J.."

Be a good Boy pa rin ha.

Nakapag bill out na at palabas na kami syempre pahabol uling picture di ba. Photobomber si Kuya sa likod haha. Nako, please excuse our full tummy at madami talaga kaming nakain. Thank you Darius and Bunso for the treat!

Here is a Screenshot of their Birthday Promo on their Facebook Page.
